Anjali has spent years pursuing her muse, which has found expression in the most basic, and unique subjects, and the most elemental of mediums, wood. Which has been enhanced by form, texture, colour, and inspiration. With her ethereal imagination, and vivid use of colour and skilled rendition in layers.
Anjali has used her magical touch to transform ‘wood’ into unique canvas. The effect achieved breathes life into “her expressions.”
A graduate of the Sir. J.J. institute of Applied Art. Anjali pursued a brief career in advertising. Subsequently, her love for design developed into a passion for woodcraft, Which slowly took on a life form of it’s own.

Anjali Kale is a Mumbai based Artist who has developed her own unique style of Sculpted wood panel art. She was educated at JJ school of art and this is her third exhibition at the prestigious Nehru Centre. She has always been fascinated with Hindu mythology and is deeply religious and so her depictions of hindu deities are pure and perfect and at times entirely symbolic.
A lot of her work is replete with the natural beauty of the earth coupled with the world of animals. Tales from the Panchatantra, or the depiction of the Panchamahabhta- the elements of cosmic creation (earth water fire air and ether) are vibrantly depicted.
The panels are first crafted in the wood and then painstakingly shaped and then painted over with the most vivid colors.
Her previous exhibitions was reviewed by midday, Mumbai mirror and all leading papers: and it was rated “a must visit” by Bombay times and was graced by none other than the renowned artist Raza who was so enraptured by her work that h visited her exhibition twice and observed “a rare gift”!

Anant Kule (craftsman). He mastered the craft under artist Anjali’s supervision for over decade’s training and plays a major role in transferring her imagination in wood.
